Children and adolescents living with HIV face ongoing challenges with testing, staying in care, and treatment. One major gap—especially for those aged 6–19—is HIV status disclosure. Knowing their own HIV status, and being supported to share it safely and when they are ready, is essential for better health outcomes and lifelong engagement in care. This resource provides practical guidance on how to support HIV status disclosure to children and adolescents, and by children and adolescents to others. Building on WHO disclosure guidelines, it brings together evidence on existing interventions, explores what works, for whom, and in which settings, and highlights key gaps and actions needed to strengthen safe and effective disclosure support.
